Terry Kohler First Inductee to Sailing Hall of Fame

Terry Kohler, world-class Sheboygan sailor and the founder and key supporter of US Sailing Center – Sheboygan, just became the first inductee into the Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation’s (LMSRF) Hall of Fame.

Terry Kohler has been and continues to be a leader in the advancement of Women’s Olympic Match Racing, sailing education, sail/hull design, as well as a philanthropist to sailing organizations around the world, according to Gene McCarthy, president of LMSRF. Gary Jobson, President of U.S. Sailing said that “Terry Kohler has the unique ability to look at things with wide eyes and then drill down and find specific solutions that are major innovations.”

While Kohler’s accomplishments are numerous in the sailing world, it is his leadership in the advancement of Women’s match racing that means the most for Sheboygan, according to Rich Reichelsdorfer, Executive Director of U.S. Sailing Center Sheboygan. “Terry not only revived the Women’s International Match Racing Association (WIMRA),” said Reichelsdorfer, “He was highly influential in getting woman’s match racing into the 2012 Olympics, and he has helped make Sheboygan one of the top venues where female sailing athletes come to train.”
