Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association Match Racing Championship
October 22-23, 2011
Sail Sheboygan will host the Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association (MCSA) Match Race Championship October 22 and 23. Teams from Ohio State, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Miami of Ohio are expected to compete. Crews of 3 or 4 will sail a round robin with the top 4 teams moving on to a semi-final knockout series which will establish the pairings for the finals.
The top 2 placing teams will qualify for the InterCollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Match Racing National Championship being sailed November 18 to 20 at the St Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, California. The Collegiate Championship format was changed in 2010 to match racing to provide an exciting alternative to fleet racing. The Midwest schools representing MCSA in the inaugural 2010 event were the Universities of Wisconsin and Minnesota.
